Event Details
Campbell County Public Library is pleased to announce a new Creative Aging series featuring an eight-session stained glass course designed specifically for adults ages 60 and older. Classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30–5pm on the following dates: January 13, 15, 20, 22, 27, 29 and February 3, 5.
Roxanne West, Thunder Basin High School Art Teacher, will introduce students to the fundamentals of stained glass, including proper tools, glass cutting techniques, and essential safety practices. The course begins with a hands-on mosaic project—such as a plate, coasters, or a lazy Susan—using small pieces of glass arranged to explore movement and visual flow.
The class will then move into creating stained glass suncatchers designed to capture light and color. Students will learn about glass types, transparency, and how these qualities create the signature glow of stained glass artwork. Instruction will also include safe ventilation and soldering procedures.
To conclude the series, participants will craft a three-dimensional piece—selecting either a hummingbird or flower—intended for outdoor display.
This Creative Aging program offers a supportive environment for older adults to learn new skills, connect with others, and explore the beauty of stained glass art.
