Campbell County Public Library welcomes poetry lovers—readers and writers—to a free workshop on Tuesday, December 5 at 5:30pm.

Based on David Hinton’s book, Awakened Cosmos: The Mind of Classical Chinese Poetry, this free seminar and practice will explore the world of poetic inspiration and translation. It is intended for poets and poetry readers of every level and experience.

Local poet and educator, Doug Dumbrill will use the classic texts and Hinton’s excellent, literal translations of the Chinese works to guide each participant to their own unique “translation” of a classic poem. Along the way the group will explore the thesis that, “a poem’s true meaning lies between the translations.”

This fun evening for poets and poetry readers may lead you to an expanded poetic consciousness! Join us!
